Grudge Match - Review

Rocky - 30 Years Later, maybe that would have been a more beneficial title for this film.  "Grudge" is no where to be seen in this film.  The story is your typical sports film if you ask me, but I did enjoy it overall.  Both characters had interesting backgrounds and hardships that they faced in the film, which appeared very realistic and down to Earth.  This was great to see in the film unlike other sports films.  Also, the reality of some details of the characters was just unrealistic to happen and their actions on those details were just unbearable to see happen.  The fight that happens in the end has barely any "grudge" and appeared to be a fight out of a Saturday morning cartoon show.  The movie would have been possibly better without the ending fight if you ask me.  I personally enjoyed the acting of the supporting actors, Kevin Hart and Alan Arkin over Sylvester Stallone and Robert DeNiro.  Their senses of humor was amusing and kept you laughing the entire film.  At times, Stallone and DeNiro appeared as just as any other role that they've ever played, which is boring to see.  I'd recommend this film on the case of there's nothing for you to see.

Philomena - Review

One of the most quiet, yet surprising films of 2013 met my expectations at ease.  "Philomena" revolves around a woman named, Philomena, who works with an author to find her son who she was forced to give up, 50 years previous.  The movie's hype and story really were enthusing to watch as the film progressed very well.  An hour and a half was perfect for this type of movie and during its duration, there were plenty of shockers in it.  Some parts were very remarkable because you were in shock that some of this happened in reality.  The acting of Judi Dench who played Philomena was unbelievably done well, she was great to watch.  At her age, she can still give such a great performance.  Some parts of the film appeared to be just weird to happen by coincidence or chance, which I didn't really find amusing about the movie.  Overall, this is a fast-paced film that does keep your attention span and I do recommend that it be seen.  Judi Dench's performance is worth the price of admission to see.

Her - Review

One of the most non-comparable films that I have ever seen that has surpassed my expectations.  The highly original film revolving around a middle-aged male named Theodore (Joaquin Phoenix) who dates a internet server named Samantha (Scarlett Johansson) is very interesting to watch.  The acting on Phoenix's part is outstanding, as it blows you away highly.  The voice of Scarlett Johansson was great as well as you thought she was actually in the picture at times.  The film's length went a little longer then I think it needed to, but that was fine.  However, when you start thinking about Samantha's character, you ask many questions about her to yourself that distracts you from the movie, which I didn't like.  I also didn't understand some of the reason's for Theodore's motives in the film that I think should have been improved on the production side of it.  Overall, the movie is a great-watch and is very original to watch.  I think the movie is really good and could be considered one of the best of 2013.  I look forward to seeing what damage this film does in the Oscar runnings.  This is a must-see, as you will walk alway pleased mainly by the unique story and outstanding acting on all cylinders.  I highly recommend this film.

Lone Survivor - Review

A true heartfelt warlike movie that tells a great tale has arrived.  The story and plot are interesting to watch with "Lone Survivor," as it is very interesting to watch, as it progresses smoothly the entire film. However, some things are spread out longer then needed, but the proceeding parts of the film null that concept.  Also, there are scenes where a foreign language is being spoken and no translation is shown, which I wasn't in favor of.  I wished to have known what was being said, but I do understand the director's point of doing this by showing us the understanding of the seals in that given moment.  The acting on all ends was great in this film, as their performances made you believe you were in a given combat situation.  Both Mark Wahlberg and Ben Foster's performances were excellent as I truly enjoyed seeing them perform on the screen.  Their acting was done so well and it can't go unnoticed. I really did like this film for the most part and I would recommend it.  It was hard to believe it was a true story because it truly was documented so well.
